That’s why it was no surprise to Throne of Blood when they suggested that perhaps the Wizard himself, Gavin Russom (DFA’s Delia & Gavin, Black Meteoric Star, and Crystal Ark), might be keen to do a remix. Completed while on the road with LCD Soundsystem (as both opening act and tour keyboardist) Gavin opted for cosmic grandiosity rather than dancefloor impact, turning in a mind-melting 12 minute ambient mix that Populette describes as sounding like „Jan Hammer and Klaus Schultze jamming together in arpeggio heaven.“ http://soundcloud.com/ Now, Populette have returned to Throne of Blood with a brand new release. This time around, the NYC production duo of Max Pask and Andrew “Wiz” Potter continue to elaborate their dark and druggy vision of the dancefloor through a pair of densely-textured, expansive affairs. Title track “Lasers Are Forever” combines arpeggiating analog squelch, lush synth atmospherics and subtle percussion sequencing to lend itself an uncommon sense of drama, the effect of which is both compelling and visceral.
